India - 3rd most powerful nation in the world
The new global power lineup for 2010 compiling the world's most powerful countries/regions recognised India as the third most powerful country behind the US and China, and predicted that its clout as well as that of China and Brazil would further rise by 2025.
'Global Governance 2025' -- a follow-on to the National Intelligence Council's 2008 report -- was jointly issued by NIC of the powerful Office of the Director of National Intelligence and the European Union's Institute for Security Studies.
In 2010, the US tops the list of powerful countries/regions, accounting for nearly 22 per cent of the global power. The US is followed by China (more than 12 per cent), European Union (more than 16 per cent), India (nearly eight per cent), and less than five per cent each for Japan, Russia and Brazil.
According to this international futures model, by 2025 the power of the US, EU, Japan and Russia would decline while that of China, India and Brazil would increase, even though there would be no change in this listing.
By 2025, the United States would still be the most powerful country of the world, but it would have a little over 18 per cent of the global power. The US would be closely followed by China (nearly 16 per cent), European Union (14 per cent) and India (10 per cent).
The report concludes that three effects of rapid globalisation are driving demands for more effective global governance -- economic interdependence, the interconnected nature of the challenges on the international agenda, and interwoven domestic and foreign challenges.
According to the 82-page report, more effective global governance is critical to addressing 'threats such as ethnic conflicts, infectious diseases, and terrorism as well as a new generation of global challenges including climate change, energy security, food and water scarcity, international migration flows and new technologies,' which are increasingly taking centrestage.
Complicating the prospects for effective global governance over the next 15 years, however, is the shift to a multi-polar world, particularly the shift in power towards non-state actors, it says.
Sridevi stumbles on ramp

Bollywood actress Sridevi, who walked the ramp for ace designer Neeta Lulla as the show stopper at the Lakme Fashion Week, came across as very nervous and saved herself twice from falling flat on the ramp.
The beautiful actress, who was sporting a silverish-grey body-fitting gown made an impressive entry on the ramp but soon her nervousness came to the fore as she was found struggling with the train of her dress.
However, the actress still found the experience of walking the ramp quite pleasant. "It was great but at the same time very hard for me," she told reporters here.
The designer was elated too and revealed: "It was fantastic that on my 25th anniversary Sridevi walked the ramp and so many people actually made it to the show."
When asked about the actress' nervousness, Lulla clarified: "As far as I think, it happens some times when you walk the ramp after a long time."
Lulla's show, which showcased a collection inspired by the repository of work done by her over the last 25 years in both prĂȘt as well as couture, boasted of Bollywood celebrities like Rani Mukherji, Hema Malini, Yash Chopra, Mugdha Godse, Tabu, Juhi Chawla and Amisha Patel, among others.
Pawan Kalyan’s Headache With Old Men
Power star Pawan Kalyan seems to be going through a wave of bumpy rides. While his latest venture ‘Komaram Puli’ has become a dud, here is another one. It is heard that Pawan is having few hiccups working with age old veterans like Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, J K Bharavi etcThroughout his career, Pawan has always worked with young and dynamic movie makers and his films were youth oriented. But right now, he is dealing with a subject that has divinity in it and is being made by old men. Though Pawan is doing a special role, his screen space is said to be quite significant.
Sources say that Pawan is doing his best to adjust with the ‘chaadastham’ of the old men and it sure is proving a challenge for him. As it is, the outcome of ‘Puli’ has given a headache to him and this new stint of his seems to be adding an extra dose to it.
'South Scope' Under Attack!!!

Inviting the couple of Prabhudeva and Nayantara for the South Scope Awards function was not a wrong thing but awarding them with the ‘Best Couple’ award is an unpardonable crime, this is the feeling which is being expressed by Tollywood observers. If they had acted in a film together, giving them the award would have been justified.
But without getting married, going against the society norms, strongly violating the Hindu code of marriage and ‘living together’, this act of Prabhudeva and Nayan, the pair getting the ‘best couple’ award in the presence of few noted elders, many are criticizing that all this is only showing the degraded levels of the ‘South Scope’ image. As such, Prabhudeva has not given a legal divorce to his first wife. If she files a complaint regarding this matter then the police will have every right to arrest both Prabhudeva and Nayan and put them behind bars. Many are feeling angry that the son of Allu Aravind, the most trusted and confiding relative of Chiranjeevi, a recipient of many awards including the prestigious ‘Padma Bhushan’ and currently the leader of the PRP and a chosen MLA, is running this magazine and resorting to such acts. With an objective to wipe out established names like Star Dust, Film Fare, the South Scope entered the field. But whether they will do that or not, they are surely wiping out the moral code of conduct and ethics of the society through their gestures and garnering a lot of criticism.
The final touch is that apart from Prabhu and Nayan, more than half of those who attended the function were ‘shady’ candidates. Boney Kapoor who gave a ‘nominal’ divorce to his wife and married the much younger Sridevi was seen at the awards. Then there is our very own Prakashraj who fell for the Bollywood choreographer Pony Verma and gave divorce to his wife. Also, the names of those who are making hot rounds in the affairs list ie Charmee, Devisri Prasad, Rana and Shriya were also participating in the event which is another highlight.
Robot rate cannot be a cause for panic

Agreed that the Rs. 27 crore pay out for a dubbed movie is logic-defying absurdity. But this has nothing to do with the superiority of one industry against another. Rajinikanth is a rare phenomena who enjoys the levels of acceptance that stars dream of but rarely ever achieve. MGR, NTR achieved stardom in their industries, but Rajini has somehow managed to strike a chord with Tamil and Telugu movie goers alike. To put the point in perspective, if a Telugu producer makes a straight Telugu movie with Rajini and dubs it into Tamil he will get double the rate than what was paid by Thota Kanna Rao. Having said that Tollywood has to listen to the alarm bells tolling away. The lack of story tellers and talented scriptwriters will sooner than later take a toll at the box office and today’s stars despite the enormous box office holds that they enjoy simply cannot make a bad movie look good. It must also be said that Tollywood’s attempt to ban dubbing of English movies in Telugu is at best a knee jerk reaction and not a long term solution. Our producers have to entice movie lovers to come to the big screen. To do that banning good English movies is not the solution, making good Telugu movies is!

It is quite common for this maverick filmmaker to shock the audience with his thrilling flicks. Undoubtedly Ram Gopal Varma is the legendary film maker of Indian Cinema altering the style of film making in India. This writer-cum-director shocks everyone with thrilling scenes and revolutionary songs all the time. Buzz in Tollywood is that top male singers of the industry are worried about their future. Let’s have a look at it. Apparently, RGV has sung a song in his upcoming flick Raktha Charitra. Sources say that the song is a melody reminding the likes of Rafi and Jesudas. Ramu’s voice is exceptional; the pitch, base, ups and downs were perfectly uttered by the filmmaker, shared a sound engineer. Ultimately, the news of RGV rendering voice for the song gave extraordinary kicks to both RGV and music lovers. However top singers are feared that RGV might takeover their fruitful career in two ways. One is that he might sing songs for other films, and secondly he indirectly advises the rest of directors to sing for a song in their movies. Definitely different tunes in an album decapitates the pride of all other songs by getting more attention. |
Young heroine tortures BT & BT

A hot actress who is just one film year old as a heroine seemed to torture the famous BT&BT of Tollywood. Wonder who is BT&BT? They are none other than the celebrity couple Bhumika Takur and Bharat Takur. It is already known that the couple got their hands burnt with their maiden production venture ‘Thakita Thakita’ even though it has strong promotion. Now, dusky Haripriya, lead lady of the film is not cooperating with producer, a source revealed.
Reportedly, Nagarjuna, Anushka and even Bhumika was unable to save the failure of film despite some hard efforts. As luck favors the bold, Bharat Takur got something in the form of Puli’s flop. Audience looking for something better one than Puli were opting of Thakita Thakita now. As the collections' graph was increasing, the producer currently wants to do some extra promotion. The young hot heroine is creating quite an inconvenience for BT in the same thing.
Haripriya’s mother is demanding some ‘extra’ money to make her daughter available for promotion. The sultry actress is busy spending her time in night pubs of Bangalore, the source added. This is making the producer much angry, but as there is no agreement for promotion with her, BT kept mum it seems.
Gossip: Devisri Prasad’s Extraaas @ ‘Dookudu’
The young and talented Devisri Prasad is the hottest name in the music world across the entire southern circuit. Now, it is heard that has been charging Rs 1.5 cr per film but then when the makers of ‘Dookudu’ approached Devisri to reduce his remuneration due to the high remuneration of lead stars, it seems he asked the makers to put in the same plea with the stars and not him.It seems Devisri reportedly said “why are you asking me? ask Mahesh and Samantha to reduce”. With this approach, the makers decided to drop Devisri and went for Thaman. The film has Mahesh Babu in the lead while the smiling beauty Samantha is the leading lady. This is directed by Srinu Vaitla.
The cine folks said that it was not very expected from someone like Devisri to do something like that but then it has happened. For now, Thaman is the man for ‘Dookudu’ and he has already got his ‘Brindaavanam’ as the latest entry in the market, this has got many saying if he has become the replacement for Devisri.
Crossing The Limit? No Control Over The OU JAC Leaders!
It looks like there is nobody to give proper advice or direction to the students of Osmania University Joint Action Committee, which is why they are making provocative statements without realizing their repercussions.
Take for example the statement of OU JAC leaders that the Seemandhra leaders would have to take Visas from the Telangana JAC if they have to tour in Telangana. Such statements are not only irresponsible, but also detrimental to their own Telangana movement. After all, the demand is for Telangana state and not for the country. Visas and passports are required if one has to travel from one country to another. So, what are they trying to say? Are they demanding Telangana country?
Naturally, the Seemandhra leaders have taken the OU JAC leaders’ statements in their favour and have started describing the Telangana protagonists are separatists. Rayalaseema leader J C Diwakar Reddy said such statements were against the spirit of national integration and wondered whether the Telangana supporters were trying to separate from the country. “Those who are born in Kashmir are called Kashmiris and those born in Hyderabad are Hyderabadis. Nobody can question their birth right,” he said.

He was known as the man with the golden hand and also as the script doctor but not much of these titles worked for him in the recent past. On the other hand, he was also known for his tight grip over the circuit of theatres and the way he used to call the shots when a big banner film releases. He is none other than Dil Raju and today, life seems to have taken a boomerang turn on him. Well, the news is that Dil Raju who is gearing up to arrive with his much hyped and expected ‘Brindaavanam’ is in the tight spot as he is unable to get the required number of theatres.
What used to be a tough ride for many small and medium budget moviemakers, today Dil Raju is reportedly in the same boat. Though the team is expressing confidence, the inside news is that they are quite worried since two giants like ‘Robo’ and ‘Khaleja’ are right in front of them. Those who heard this news in the film nagar are saying that at last Dil Raju has finally fallen in his own pit.
